I got this foundation a couple of months back but I didn’t get time to write a review on it; honestly I didn’t want to because it really let me down. First off, it’s not a matte foundation at ALL. It says it’s water-based and oil-free so it should feel light and matte on the skin but guess what, it feels just the opposite! It feels tacky and sinks into the pores which is another put off.
I got it in Medium Beige 06 which turned out to be the wrong shade for my skin tone; it’s slightly dark. I suppose it would be suitable for NC 35 skin tone. It is yellow based so it would suit Asian skin tones. The foundation comes in a tube form without a pump. You need to unscrew the cap as it’s not a flip top. The consistency is somewhat liquid-y but not runny which is okay with me. It feels like a moisturizing lotion when you apply it which isn’t what a matte foundation should feel like. I know it claims not ‘to be flat’ but it feels way too greasy; it literally feels like I’ve applied oil all over my face. There are foundations out there that claim a semi-matte finish, for instance Catrice Infinite Matt Make Up which truly gives a matte but not flat finish so I certainly don’t think this foundation remains true to its claim.
I might have suggested people with dry to normal skins to give it a go but I wouldn’t. The reason because it doesn’t blend into my skin, sits on top and feels like a mask – I could feel it all the time. As mentioned before, it also sinks into the pores and makes them look prominent. Even a lot of buffing and blending doesn’t help much in my case. Since it also feels tacky, I dust some powder to get rid of that but it comes back after an hour or so. The coverage too is not close to what’s promised; it’s light to medium. It’s not transfer-proof and also doesn’t stay put all day long as they say. I’d say it lasts up to four to five hours before it begins to fade.
All in all, this foundation is a miss for me. People with dry skin types can make it work for them if looking for a luminous light to medium coverage foundation. Anyone with large pores, combination to oily skin or acne prone skin should stay miles away from it.
You might like it if…
- You have a dry skin type.
- You are looking for yellow toned foundation.
- You want a luminous light to medium coverage.
- You expect a decent wear (four to five hours).
- You expect a matte/semi-matte finish.
- You expect it to blend into your skin.
- You have combination to oily skin type.
- You expect it to be full coverage.
- You think it feels tacky and sinks into the pores.
- You expect it to be transfer proof and long wearing.
- You want a foundation that doesn't feel heavy on the skin.

ReplyDeleteXOXO
great review Sara, i would like to use this in winters!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this review. I've had this foundation on my wishlist ever since it came out. I really trust you opinion so I'm going to stay away from it and look into other matte products for oily skin. I wonder if you tried the powder of this same line (Stay Matte not Flat) because it claims to be full coverage and now I'm seriously wondering if it's true. I've been told the Neutrogena Shine Control works a lot better than NYX's matte line. Thanks again love, xx
ReplyDeleteOh i too love NYX but this doesn't sound so good :(
ReplyDeletexo

ReplyDeleteFoundations that feel like a mask are a big no no. What a bummer! Thanks for the honest review xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for saving my bucks. It was on my wishlist!
ReplyDeleteThe powder version of this was a fail for me too, didn't keep my skin matte for more than a few hours!
ReplyDeletethanx for an honest review yet again dear it is making ur face quite dull,,,definitely a miss as it claims high and deliver nothing
ReplyDeleteYou have glowing skin Sara, nice review this foundation lacks coverage.
ReplyDeleteI tried it and I agree with you. It was tacky, the coverage was sheer (at least for me), and it definitely did not keep my skin matte throughout the day. Shame, shame.
