Catrice Gel Eyeliner in Black Jack with Jack Black

And I thought nothing could beat my Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama gel eyeliner. I had been repurchasing Maybelline gel eyeliner for like two three times and it never let me down. The only problem – it dries out pretty fast. Not to forget, it’s pricey too.
Both gel liners are great in my opinion but few things make Catrice a winner for me. To begin with, the texture is better – it’s applies smoothly and much easier than Maybelline’s. Maybelline gel eyeliner is slightly thicker in consistency and sometimes, to create a precise line, I have to drag it along my lids. On the other hand, this one glides like butter. Secondly, it comes in more quantity with almost half the price. Both appear intense on first swipe, stay put for hours, dry quick on my lids and don’t smudge or fade. However, I do think Catrice gel liner appears blacker than Maybelline’s.
Since it’s very pigmented and waterproof, be sure to take it off with a makeup remover or a cleansing milk. Moreover, it doesn’t come with an applicator like Maybelline’s so you must buy a separate brush – I prefer an angled liner brush (makes prefect cat eyes). Truthfully speaking, the brush that comes with Maybelline is useless so you need a good brush either way.
Catrice gel eyeliner outscores Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama gel eyeliner for me. Does it dry out fast in the jar? I am not sure but I will update you guys after some time.

catrice and essence are sister brands. They both are from the same company, and the same quality. The only difference is price and target market.

ReplyDeleteI don't own a single gel liner and I've been looking around for one. I've been recommended the Wet n' Wild and the Maybelline, none of them are sold where I live, but I do have a friend in Canada and she can get Catrice so I think I'm going to do a little list so she can get me this eyeliner among other things LOL ^^ Thanks a lot for the review! xx

The maybelline eye liner I got before my brother's engagement still works beautifully. It's been 1 year and 8 months. It did dry but only the top most layer if I scratch a little fresh creamy gel is just under the top most layer. The brush I got with the liner is very good I never had problem with it. Don't know if the company is sending the same in Pakistan. I am planning to purchase Bobbi brown's gel eyeliner. Only problem with maybelline's gel eye liner is you can't put it on the rim of your eye. That's why I want to have bobbi brown's gel eyeliner as you can put it inside your eye and it will not budge.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why mine dry so fast. I scratch the top layer but the trick works for just 4 to 5 months, beyond that it becomes useless. I think the one you're talking about has a different packaging. Someone told me about that. :)

ReplyDeleteu saved me a great deal of amount...as i wnated to buy maybelline in its purple black shade and liked it brush, but if u say its useless i wont waste that great amount illchek if Catrice offers more shades in it or may be essence as it is alos liked by many...<3 to u!!!

ReplyDeleteI just got mine today, and you were right that application is very smooth and results are awesome. However, it's a TOUGH job to remove this eyeliner. I used cleansing milk to remove it, but i still had to rub it hard to remove it. Other than that, great product! I also bought Catrice eye brush that the SA at Naaheed's suggested me, which was good as well. The price was 460 for the brush.

Deletehey sara i was so looking for a get eyeliner which is easily available in lahore, choices i have are mabelline, L'Oreal and now catrice is in my list too, lots of ppl have have been complaining abt drying out of mabelline so i want to select one out of both? Loreal or catrice? and yes is it safe to apply on waterline?
