I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago. I wanted something that would give minimal coverage yet keep my T-zone matte so I went for Transparent. Read more to know about my experience.

| Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent’ |
This is a product I won’t go out without. It’s summer which means an active T-zone. My foundation starts slipping off in my nose and chin area after a couple of hours because of the oil and this is where Rimmel Stay Matte comes to my rescue. Before this, I was using other compact powders but I didn’t want any additional coverage. Honestly, I was oblivious of transparent pressed powders; I only knew about the mineral ones. Glad I found it!
This pressed powder doesn’t seem transparent in the pan. Apparently, it’s a pale ivory color that does show up a little when you apply it BUT don’t worry, it gets invisible just like that. I personally believe it would appear transparent even on dark medium skin tones. I absolutely LOVE the velvety smooth feel of it. It doesn’t get powdery or chalky and delivers really well by keeping my T-zone matte for up to four hours. On very oily skin, a touch up after two hours might be needed. In case you’re wondering, it doesn’t cake up with multiple layering but don’t go overboard, keep it thin.
I apply it with my Sigma F30 Large Powder brush. I don’t apply it all over my face; I just do one quick swirl on my T-zone and it goes on great. If you require full face dusting with saturated coverage, you can use a kabuki brush or powder puff for that. Not to mention, if you’re facing troubles with your foundation transferring, this product will definitely fix the problem for you. It not only keeps shine at bay but also locks in your liquid foundation. There’s not much to say about it except that it’s not very travel friendly; the lid doesn’t lock securely so you should be careful if you keep it in your bag.
Overall, it’s a really good product with an affordable price tag. It keeps my T-zone shine free for good amount of time. If you have very oily skin and don’t mind touching up after every two hours, you’d be happy to use it.
You might like it if…
- You’re looking for a transparent powder that’s actually transparent.
- You expect a non-cakey (natural) coverage.
- You expect it to keep you shine-free for around 3-4 hours.
- You want to set your liquid foundation.
- You want an affordable pressed powder.
- You want to travel with it – the flimsy packaging comes in your way.
- You have very oily skin and frequent touch ups bother you.
4/5

ReplyDeleteI agree Rimmel has some hits and misses. No, I haven't yet tried Wake Me Up. :)
DeleteI own it and this is my absolute favourite. Your right about the packaging. Mine has totally broken off. It's so annoying and the lid keeps coming off too. Great review :) <3 <3

Why don't cosmetic companies consider people with extremely DRY skin?
ReplyDeleteThis is a must product for me. I am so sick of my T-zone as the weather over here in Malaysia in hot and humid throughout the year. =/ I am using a powder by Mineral Hygienics and that works really nice but this one is really affordable and mess free unlike loose powder. I will try to get it soon =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review..xxx
hey sara! just few days back i got this in 07 mohair frm naheed, it was the darkest of them all. after applying it looked pinkish on my yellow undertone. i hv read great reviews abt this product and as its not expensive i can buy another one....so do u suggest i buy the transparent one?

ReplyDeletenice review i have this powder in 004 sandstorm. its good product. Sara i have this one problem with my skin if you or anyoneelse can give me good suggestion, my skin is oily and acne prone and after 1 or 2 hrs of applying foundation, blush on etc. everything gets absorbs in my skin and vanish away :-(.
ReplyDeletethat's because you are probably using a wrong foundation. What are you using? and do you set your foundation with Stay Matte?
Deleteyes i always set my foundation with face powder and here is the list of products i have, :-) mac studio fix foundation, mac studio fix powder plus foundation, maybelline dream liquid mousse, maybelline dream matt mousse, revlon colorstay, catrice perfect resist 24hr foundation, maybelline foundation clear smooth, rimmel stay matte pressed powder, catrice skin finish compact powder, maybeline fit me face powder, maybelline dream matt face powder. I have few more but after 1-3 hrs everything get absorbs into my skin.
DeleteWhich face primer are you using?
Deletenothing, in winters i was using milk of magnesia it was good and controls shine on my t-zone area for 3-4 hours but now in summers its not working. now i am thinking of purchasing smashbox anti shine, maybe it will help to control shine and last my foundation little longer.
Deleteby the way i am waiting for the reviews of benefits porefessional and noxizema clean blemish control from your new year’s haul [http://www.sarahassansblog.com/2012/01/new-year-haul.html]
I hope you find something that works for you. You can also try Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray or MAC Prep and Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. You can also look for Skindinavia No More Shine Setting Spray.
DeleteI am sorry sweetie I won't be reviewing the Facial Foam (have so much in the pipeline). Honestly, it's just an okay product. Review on POREfessional would be posted in a while. :)
thank you so much for your suggestions. hopefully something works for me. i have just read the porefessional review, and about noxizema i have used it couple of time and i agree with you its an ok product for me too.

ReplyDeleteHey there! Yes, it comes in other shades as well. I suggest trying out testers at the store to get your match. Please go through my post on 'Seven Foundation Mistakes to Avoid' in the beauty guide section, I am sure that would help :)
