Looking for a drugstore primer that mimics the high-end ones? Meet MUA Professional Eye Primer!
Professional Eye Primer
If you’ve never used an Eye Primer before, now is the time to invest. Basically, it smoothes the eye lid ready for eye shadow to be applied. It also creates a base, helping the eye shadow last all night long - no more creases! You can sleep all day and party all night with the help of the Eye Primer from MUA, just pop it on the top of your eye lid, pat it in gently and apply your eye shadow directly on top of it.

An eye shadow primer’s job is to make your eyeshadow last long and prevent creasing. Since this primer is so cheap, I couldn’t expect it to perform like Urban Decay’s Primer Portion or any similar high end primer. But I must say, this product is a good alternative to expensive primers out there. I am not saying that it’s as good as those but it is good enough – it really does what it says.
The consistency of the product is creamy and spreads out without an effort providing a flat surface for the shadow to be applied on. Also, it sort of evens out the skin. I suggest applying a thin layer of product to the whole lid, wait for a few seconds to let it dry and then apply your eyeshadow.
Does it hinder eye shadow blending? To some extent, yes! Blending gets a bit problematic with any primer underneath but then it also depends on the quality of your eyeshadow. I agree that eyeshadow blending takes more work with it but you get the benefits too. It extends the life of your eye shadow and prevents it from cracking. For me, it doesn’t prevent 100% creasing like UDPP. After five to six hours, I do notice some fading of color and a little creasing but it’s barely noticeable. Does it make your shadows pop? I’d say it doesn’t really make a remarkable difference in the intensity of eyeshadows but don’t get me wrong, it does make the color more vibrant but I can't really complain because it's more or less the same as with UDPP.
Overall, it’s a great product for the price. If you use eyeshadows on a regular basis and can’t splurge on an expensive eyeshadow primer, this one is definitely worth a shot!
