There was a time when I used to think that I can never pull off a red color on my lip. I found red lips quite intimidating and was too scared to try. I used to envy my mum for pulling it off so well! I stepped out of the shell when I tried Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Alarm -- my first red lipstick. I realized, red ain't that scary after all IF it's the one that suits you -- your skin tone to be precise.
I fall into the medium skin-toned category. People with my skin tone should go for orange, pink based and deep reds but I personally believe you can make any red work (Oh yes, even the blue based ones) with the right kind of dress and makeup coordination.
There are so many reds out there and it could be very confusing to decide on a perfect shade. I am going to suggest a few red lipsticks that I believe would flatter medium skin tones quite well.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite, favorite red is MAC's Lady Danger. It's an orange based red. Generally speaking, and although it's against the "rules" - I find orange lipsticks work best on me. I feel the most confident in them and I get the most compliments.

Deletei guess you can also dab some foundation with your finger and smudge it really well.. saw that on youtube :D
DeleteOr once you've applied red lipstick, you can dab some tiny bit of foundation with lip brush and smudge it really good... :)

Deletei tried several reds, but the catrice ultimate colour 080 works best for me, its a gorgeous blue undertoned red, it really makes my teeth whiter. its also very cheap! (but i think all catrice lipsticks are great value, especially cos they have many wearable non shimmery colors for a great price, they last relatively long, and are relatively moisturizing) i love the nyx matte merlot too. from these i think the russian red is what worked best for me. great post by the way!

11 is kind of deep marooonish redish shade but both shades looks great on her and finally she is so so happy to have her desired kind of red lip color in her collection:)

I was really scared of trying red lips.. i got collection2000 queen of hearts.. turns out its a pretty nice color. After that i bought luscious signature 05 summer berry lipstick.. lovely maroon. nothing expensive :D

Russian Red is definitely my favorite, but I also love Revlon's reds like Fire & Ice and Love That Red. Rimmel Kate collection reds are stunning too, I think your choices are perfect for medium to tan skin :))
