| Color Studio Professional Eye Ink Eye Shadows Swatches (built without primer) |
My thoughts
A good quality plus budget-friendly eyeshadow is hard to find. In my book, a good eyeshadow should have three main qualities; a soft texture, blendability and no scary fallouts (a few is tolerable though). Now you must be wondering why I didn’t mention pigmentation? Well, pigmentation too is extremely important but it can only build up IF an eyeshadow is soft enough to allow the brush to pick it up. You can enhance pigmentation with a primer/eyeshadow base but you can do nothing about a hard texture. And what to do with pigmentation if it doesn’t blend? And how would it look if your eyeshadow lands equally on your face as on the lid? Crazy of course!
Anyway, coming to the Eye Ink now. My initial impression about these was good. When I first swatched them, I found them having a good color payoff plus a soft texture. I also didn’t have to struggle to get them onto my brush however they do require building up to get their maximum intensity. I would definitely recommend prepping your eyes with an eye shadow primer/base before you wear these because that would help the eyeshadows stick to your lids better, make the colors pop and prevent fading or creasing (especially if you have oily lids).
FairyTale Blue is a gorgeous mermaid teal that anyone can pull off, Purple Dust is a purplish copper and is also my favorite among these; it gives a fantastic soft smokey eye effect. Moon Dust is a silver white eyeshadow that you can use for highlighting. FairyTale Blue and Purple Dust have tiny bit of shimmer in there while Moon Dust is metallic. Yes, there is some fall out with the shimmer ones but that you can sweep off with a brush when you’re done. Be sure you gently pat the eyeshadows on the lid and not sweep them; this would help minimize fall outs.
These eye shadows also blend quite well as they have a soft texture that allows for easy mixing of the colors. For a good makeup application you certainly need good brushes. Smokey effect is very easy to achieve if you have the right brush in hand; I mostly use Sigma Tapered Blending E 40 for this purpose. These eye shadows stay put for a good amount of time if you don’t skip a primer otherwise the colors will tone down or fade.
To sum it up, I’d say Eye Ink is a great addition by Color Studio Pro and I would like to see some more colors in this range. For PKR 400 each, the quality of these eye shadows is truly commendable!
You might like it if…
- You expect good pigmentation.
- You expect a soft texture.
- You’re looking for some budget friendly eye shadows.
- You are into shimmer/metallic finish.
- You expect them to blend seamlessly.
- You can’t put up with glitter fallouts with the shimmer shades.
- You think it's a bit pricey for mono eyeshadow
- You don’t use an eye shadow primer before application.
4/5
Now I have created a makeup look using these eye shadows. I have also used other products by the same brand that I am going to review soon. For my look, I used FairyTale Blue on my lid; Moon Dust in the inner corner and Purple Dust in my crease and smudged it up to the brow bone.
