POND’S Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam - Review

If you remember, I entitled this product as one of the ‘Hidden Gems of 2011’ some days back. Wanna know why?

POND’S Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam
Pond’s reveals its little black beauty secret with the new powerful Pond’s Pure White Facial Foam! It has the technology of activated carbon that attracts deep-seated ‘black’ dirt caused by impurities, oil and make-up to reveal a pure white you. This revolutionary product contains Activated Carbon proven to lift black impurities for purer, whiter skin.

It is the first of its kind to be formulated with activated carbon, which works with ‘black attracts black’. Carbon when heated or ‘activated’ become 8x porous; hence increasing its ability to detoxify and gently exfoliate dead skin cells while retaining needed moisture.

My thoughts
I was kinda bored with my favorite Clean and Clear Face washes, not that they’ve disappointed me, I just wanted something for a change. It was back in my teens when I used to use Pond’s Face washes and I liked them for their fragrance alone. To be honest, I wasn’t really satisfied with their cleansing performance so I never repurchased. After a very long time, I picked up Pond’s face wash completely off the cuff and it surprises me how crazy good this product turned out for me.

You must have seen me repeating how much I dislike tube face washes solely for the reason of the product going to waste due to the runny consistency. But this facial foam is no where close to runny. It’s like a thick grayish cream that would come out only if you squeeze the tube. I didn’t buy it with any hope to reveal my ‘natural pure white looking skin’, I just wanted it to work well as a cleanser and gladly it did. You just need a pea-sized amount of it that transforms into foam when you massage. It has a very mild scent which is pretty much undetectable after you rinse off.

So when I first used it, I didn’t like the feel of my skin when I rinsed it off. I couldn’t feel the soft and smooth feeling on my skin unlike what I experience with Clean and Clear face washes (you must know what I mean if you’ve used them). It felt like I washed my face with a regular soap. It wasn’t entirely a tight feeling but it wasn’t supple either. However, my face felt completely free of dirt and impurities which did impress me.

This facial cleanser also removes makeup effectively. I can say it cleanses really well, even better than Clean and Clear I must say. The other day I washed my foundation brush laden with Revlon ColorStay Foundation (which you must know how stubborn it is to get rid off). I usually wash my brushes with a shampoo but when that failed I thought why not test the cleanser. Surprisingly, the tiniest amount cleaned the brush right away! That really made me believe how well it rinses out the impurities.

I also think this facial cleanser controls the oily zones on my face. Some face washes that I have used completely rip the skin off of oil (sebum secreted by sebaceous/oil glands on our face that maintain the pH and also act as a barrier to bacteria) and as a reaction to that, the oil glands are activated even more and that results in breakouts. But this face wash doesn’t leave my skin dry or hydrated; it’s just a normal feeling. My face doesn't get oily for good five to six hours. However, I do think it might dry out the skin if you use it more than three times a day. I personally think this product is more suitable for people with normal to oily skin types. I wouldn’t recommend this to you if you’ve a dry skin.

I don’t know if the activated Carbon has helped bring out any miraculous fairness but I can tell that it cleanses really well. In fact, I think it controls and dries out the zit before it ripens. I see myself repurchasing it for this reason particularly.

You might like it if…

  • You are looking for an effective deep facial cleanser.
  • You want a cheap but a good face wash.
  • You have normal to oily skin.
  • You are happy with its mild scent.
  • You are satisfied with its oil controlling properties.
You might not like it if…
  • You have dry skin type.

My rating:
5/5

I got this product from Agha's Supermarket for PKR 365 only which is almost half the price I pay for Clean and Clear Face washes. I'd definitely be getting this one more often.

Have you tried this product? What's your favorite cleanser?

  10. I've had this for a while but unlike other awesome face washes from Pond's, this one disappointed me. It broke me out in 2 painful pimples that left marks. Then after a while, I gave it another try when the the zits were clear and again, it broke me out. I only use it for my neck now.
